About Us

About me and my therapy practice

Hi, I am Janet. With over 10 years of experience in counseling, I am passionate about empowering children, youth, and families to navigate challenges and unlock their potential. I specialize in supporting individuals with self-esteem issues, school achievement concerns, and learning disabilities, using approaches grounded in evidence-based practices like the Satir Model, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Solution-Focused Techniques. My work is also informed by a deep understanding of safeguarding processes and Social Care Wales legislation.

As a Social Worker and Counsellor in Wales, I prioritize meeting clients where they are, offering a compassionate and strengths-based approach to fostering resilience and growth. I have collaborated with diverse professionals and families across various settings, including the Vale of Glamorgan and Cardiff, ensuring that every individual feels seen and supported.

Outside of work, I enjoy learning new languages and connecting with colleagues across cultural and linguistic backgrounds, enhancing my ability to provide inclusive and effective care.

Practice description

I describe myself as an Integrative Counsellor. I see everyone is different and there is no single solution that fits all. My hope in therapy is that you will feel being respect, you're unquie, and being understood and accepted. I claim myself as warm and down to earth therapist with over 10 years experience working with womens' health, trauma, bereavement and emotional health issues.

"The problem is never the problem, it is the coping with the problem that is the problem." Virginia Satir.

At the deepest level of change, I worked to help people let go of unrealistic expectations, which usually related to earlier internalized expectations of the self or unmet yearnings. I would promote acceptance of these earlir expectations or yearnings and then challenge people to let go of their unrealistic expectations in relation to them. Finally, I would guide people toward more realistic sources for getting their yearnings met. I believe "Change is always possible".

My first session

I offer a free initial consultation on the phone or online. This usually about 30 minutes and is an opportunity to discuss whether we feel we can work together.

Our mission

Let go of grief — not by forgetting, but by honouring what it has taught you.

Let go of guilt — not by denying it, but by forgiving yourself and recognising that growth begins where blame ends.

Let go of control — not by giving up, but by trusting the process of healing and change.

When we learn to let go, we make space for new beginnings: for peace to return, for compassion to rise, and for hope to quietly rebuild itself. Every breath we take after letting go becomes an act of courage — a quiet reminder that even in brokenness, beauty still exists.

So, take that deep breath. Let go and breathe. Because in that simple act, transformation begins — within ourselves, and within the lives we touch.
